Strange Engineering Street Car Shootout: $15,000 Top Alcohol Dragster Showdown Takes Center Stage

The Strange Engineering Street Car Shootout is about to make history on May 9-10, 2025, with an unprecedented twist: for the first time in the series’ existence, Top Alcohol Dragsters (TADs) will race alongside the all-door car lineup. This groundbreaking event will feature a thrilling $15,000-to-win Top Alcohol Dragster Shootout, offering one of the largest payouts ever seen in the class. The shootout promises to be an electrifying spectacle, blending the raw power of TADs with the excitement of street car racing.

A Bold New Vision

Track manager Chad Porter has been searching for an opportunity to bring something fresh and exciting to the Street Car Shootout, and this year, he’s done just that. “I’ve been looking for an opportunity to do something different, something special,” Porter says. “We’ve brought fast door cars to a dragster race before, but we’ve never brought fast dragsters to a door car event. We felt this was the perfect chance to bring in the extremely competitive Top Alcohol Dragster class and combine it with our amazing street car shootout racers and fan base.”

Porter’s excitement is evident as he anticipates what’s in store for this year’s event. “With the event being held in May, we’re hoping for great weather conditions and a chance to see some big, low 5-second quarter-mile passes,” he said. “We can’t wait for Friday night qualifying under the lights, with the fans witnessing a mix of everything from a daily driven street car to 3-second drag radial car to low 5 second ¼ mile nitro-injected and blown alcohol dragsters. The atmosphere is going to be incredible.”

Confirmed Entries: Racing Powerhouses Set to Compete

The event is already gaining momentum, with a number of top-tier teams confirming their entries. Among the early sign-ups is Randy Meyer Racing, which will field two cars driven by a pair of experienced and successful racers. Two-time world champion Megan Meyer will pilot one of the team’s cars, alongside 2024 TAD Division 3 runner-up and Top Fuel driver Gary Pritchett, who will take the wheel of the other.

Rich McPhillips Racing, another multi-car powerhouse team has also confirmed two entries, with the names of their drivers yet to be announced. Other confirmed entrants include multiple-time national event winner and 2024 TAD Division 1 champion Jackie Fricke, along with Dan Dietrich, Tom Fox, Tom Pickett, John Ausherman, Brett Winward, Rich Bourke, and Joey Gerdelmann IV. The list of racers continues to grow, and more entries are expected in the lead-up to the event.
