October 17-19, 2025 – Cecil County, MD
As the 2025 racing season continues to heat up, racers and fans are eagerly anticipating the 2nd Annual Pro Mod Invitational at Cecil County Dragway, scheduled for October 17-19, 2025. In conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, this year’s event promises to be even bigger and better than the inaugural race held in 2024.
We caught up with track owner and Pro Mod veteran Jim Halsey to get his thoughts on last year’s event and what fans can expect this time around.
When asked about last year’s event, Halsey reflected on the challenges that came with the weather. “It was obviously disappointing for everyone, but I can’t say enough about how hard my crew worked to make sure the event was completed,” Halsey shared. “Despite the constant rain, we still managed to finish the event, and the racers showcased their impressive driving ability and performance, with multiple runs in the 3.50s. It was just unfortunate that we had to finish on a Monday, and many of our loyal fans couldn’t make it.”
Halsey, however, remains optimistic about the future of the Pro Mod Invitational. “It wasn’t easy, but we got through it, and I believe our track proved its potential even under those challenging conditions.”
When asked if he ever considered not holding the event again after the weather-related setbacks, Halsey’s response was clear: “Absolutely not. I’m not one to give up. I believe in our facility, our team, and our track. We showed what we can do last year, and we’re confident that this year will be a success.”
Halsey is particularly excited about the new date for this year’s event, which falls at the tail end of the fall season. “We’re really looking forward to the end-of-fall conditions this year. The cooler temperatures should provide ideal conditions, and I’m sure the fans will see some incredible racing.”
For the second year in a row, Cecil County Dragway will host the Pro Mod Invitational in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. Halsey believes this partnership is a win for both the track and its fans.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for our local fans to attend and see the diversity of drag racing with all of the different classes,” Halsey said. “It’s also a huge benefit for the NHRA. Our loyal fan base loves door car racing and Pro Mods in particular, and by teaming up with the NHRA, we can pack the stands and put on a spectacular show for everyone.”
With an impressive lineup of drivers and a track that’s set to deliver its best conditions yet, the 2025 Pro Mod Invitational at Cecil County Dragway is an event no drag racing fan will want to miss. Mark your calendars for October 17-19, 2025, and get ready for another unforgettable weekend of fast cars and fierce competition.
